Margalit Normand, a very active and well loved cousin to all of us died on 17th July 2001

On the 21st June "Midreshet Hemdat" in the name of the Family Frumkin was dedicated in the Maalot Haim School in Petach Tikva.

Midreshet Frumkin, was dedicated to the memory of Eliyahu Ephraim (son of Rabbi Arye Leib)and Rachel Frumkin, by their family, in the presenceof their descendents Angela Goldberg and Louis Frydman. The dedication ceremony was honoured with presence of the Mayor of Petach Tikva, Member of Knesset Shaul Yahalom and many other dignitaries, who expreesed how proud they were to recreate the Frumkin legacy within Petach Tikva.

Rabbi Arye Leib Frumkin started the first School in Petach Tikva and amongst the pupils were his two sons Shmuel and Eliyahu Ephraim. The school curicullum included religious, secular and argricultural studies much to the dismay of the religious circles in Jerusalem. As in so many other ways, again Rabbi Frumkin was a pioneer.

  

This photo shows the plaque set up by the Petach Tikva council at the site of the Rabbi Arye Leib Frumkin's house. The plaque reads:-

On this site in 1884, Rabbi Arye Frumkin built and managed "The Lachman Estate" in 1884, which renewed the creation of the Petach Tikva settlement.

Rabbi Frumkin founded a school and argricultural seetlement in his house, which was built as a fortress, and became a refuge for the Petach Tikva settlers during the large scale arab attacks in 1886. In 1894 the settlement was passed on to Shimon Leeibricht and his son Akiva, who founded a Vinery. The Vinery was purchaed by Shimon Freedman in 1912.
On January 24th 2001, the wedding took place in Israel of Aviva Friedmann to Avi Barach (of Jerusalem). Aviva is the daughter of Michelle (nee
Rabinowitz) and Lenny Friedmann (of Ra'anana), grandaughter of the late Mena (nee Nevies) and Reuby Rabinowitz z"l.  She is also the
great-grandaughter of Naphtalie Moshe Nevies and Liebe Guta Nevies (nee King).

The BarMitzva of Jonathan Daniel Hart, youngest son of Ruth and Michael Hart on Shushan Purim (10th March 2001) took place in Manchester.  Jonathan is the grandson of Rose (nee Nevies) Miller and Henry Miller.  He is also the great-grandson of Naphtalie Moshe Nevies and Liebe Guta Nevies (nee King).

The Wedding of Shalom and Tamar took place on 22nd February in Ramat Gan Israel.
